Garfield Elementary celebrated the many different cultures that make up our school in our first annual We Are Garfield Family Culture Night on Monday, May 16th. Did you know Garfield student body is made up of more than 21 countries and more than 20 different languages?
Families started the evening by enjoying a meal of walking tacos and then toured the hallways to see work that students have created throughout the year. Student work highlighted the 8 Habits of the Leader In Me program. The habits are:
- Be proactive
- Begin with the end in mind
- Put first things first
- Think win-win
- Seek first to understand, then be understood
- Synergize
- Sharpen the saw
- Find your voice
The final event was an assembly in the gymnasium that included artwork about home countries, a drum ensemble performance, solos, a traditional dress parade and a performance of "We are the World".
Thank you to all who had a part in making this evening a great success!
